Hair Care Guide

Essential Hair Care & Maintenance Guide

At The Source Hair Co., our 100% Raw Vietnamese Hair is sourced with full cuticle integrity intact. Because raw hair does not contain synthetic silicone coatings, proper routine care will preserve its natural luster, movement, and longevity for years to come.

1. Washing & Conditioning

Treat your raw bundles with the same level of care you would give to your natural hair.

  • Sulfate-Free Products Only: Always use high-moisture, sulfate-free shampoos and hydrating conditioners. Sulfates strip the hair of its natural moisture, leading to stiffness.

  • Co-Washing: Prior to your initial install or styling, we recommend a thorough co-wash (washing with conditioner only) using lukewarm water to unlock maximum softness and natural fall.

  • Downward Rinsing: Always wash and rinse hair in a single downward motion from weft to tip. Never scrub or bundle the hair together aggressively while washing to prevent unneeded tangles.

2. Detangling & Brushing

Raw human hair requires gentle detangling tools to protect the double-weft construction.

  • Start from the Ends: Gently comb through the hair starting from the tips and gradually work your way up to the weft.

  • Recommended Tools: Use a wide-tooth comb or a fine-tooth tail comb for detailed styling. Avoid harsh bristle brushes when the hair is wet.

  • Minimal Tying: Never pull aggressively at the weft when detangling.

3. Heat Styling & Bleaching

Our raw hair takes heat and color exceptionally well, holding straight presses and lifted blondes effortlessly.

  • Heat Protection is Mandatory: Always apply a lightweight, high-grade heat protectant spray prior to using flat irons, curling wands, or blow dryers.

  • Temperature Control: Keep thermal styling tools set to low-to-medium heat under (180℃ / $350℉) to maintain healthy cuticle bonds and moisture levels.

  • Chemical Processing: While our hair can safely be lifted to high blonde tones (like #613), chemical lightening should always be performed by a licensed professional colorist followed by a deep-conditioning treatment.

4. Nighttime Protection & Storage

Protecting your investment while sleeping prevents friction and moisture loss.

  • Wrap or Braid: Secure your hair in a loose braid or wrap before bed to eliminate overnight tangling.

  • Silk & Satin: Always sleep on a silk pillowcase or wear a satin bonnet.

  • Storage: When not installed, keep your clean, dry bundles stored inside your official The Source Hair Co. satin drawstring bag to shield them from ambient humidity and dust.

Stylist Pro Tip: Avoid heavy oils or dense pomades on straight raw hair. A few drops of a weightless serum are all you need to maintain a light, glass-like shine and natural body.
